You know I can't pass up a good estate or yard sale. So when a friend asked if I would like to wake-up at the crack of dawn to go to "the point," I jumped at the chance. The Alameda Point Antiques and Collectibles Faire is Northern California's largest antiques and collectibles show and showcases 800+ outdoor dealers selling their goods on the first Sunday of every month at the former Alameda Point Naval Air Station in Alameda, California. Everything for sale must be over twenty years old. Most keep to this rule, but I did find some interesting items {i.e. Old Navy t-shirt} that I wouldn't qualify as "vintage", but what the heck.
I brought my little Canon along to take some pictures. The thick fog helped in the early hours, but as soon as the sun broke through, the images were too washed out. So, here are the photos that turned out with some of the items that caught my eye...
Aren't these root balls amazing {pic above}? I would love to figure out how to do this. May be Kate or Janell will figure it out and post about it.
I didn't go home empty handed {put a little dent in the wallet!} and will share some of the treasures in a future post. Do you shop flea markets?

I would shop flea markets if they looked like that!!!!
ReplyDeleteOh...wow! Thanks for the vote of confidence but I wouldn't know where to start. Michaels, or www.nettletonhollow.com would be a good place to look for inspiration!!
ReplyDeleteI see so many items in these pictures that are gorgeous, looks like a fabulous trip! Janell
I'm looking forward to seeing what you ended up with. I love those chairs in the first photo. Some really cool finds.

OMG! I could spend days there! I am so green with envy right now :)Next year I will be in California for this and we will load up our little Jetta to the brim and then inhale diesel fumes all the way home! I cant wait!
ReplyDeleteI've always wanted to go to this fair! Lucky you! Thanks for the virtual trip! Can't wait to see your goodies.
ReplyDeleteFun! I've been wondering what the Alameda market is like...
ReplyDeleteDid you find prices generally to be reasonable?
Oh, I am just drooooooooooling looking at those pics, oh how I love the Alameda Flea ! BTW, those root balls ? They'd make amazing chandy's don't you think? I'm thinking I may use some of my grapevines this winter after pruning and make some orbs and turn them into outdoor chandys, what do you think ?

ReplyDeleteYes! they would make amazing chandeliers! Please blog about it if you decide to do it.
Struggler,
Yes and no on the pricing. But, if you see something you love, you need to buy it right away.

ReplyDeleteGreat flea market! Love those chairs in the first picture in particular. And yes, those root balls would be AWESOME pendants/chandys.
ReplyDeleteI'm always so bummed when I miss a trip to Alameda. I never look forward to the traffic getting home though.
ReplyDeleteI want it all.
ReplyDeleteHubby + I have spent a whole entire day there and the finds were amazing! Dent in our wallet too. Thanks for stopping by my blog and commenting. I am in Napa!
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to spending more time on your blog!
Wow - this looks incredible. I've never seen stuff like this at an antique show in Canada. I'm going to have to come and visit.
ReplyDelete800 dealers - amazing! I love the drop down desk in the second image. I recently went to Christie's which is an outdoor antique market here and didn't see anything notable worth buying.
ReplyDeleteIt looks so great! You know I never once visited this market in all the years I lived in SF? What was wrong with me?!
ReplyDeleteEverything is so great especially the chairs
