Maps show us where we have been and where we are headed. They teach us about the past and let us dream about the future. The graphic qualities maps possess make them perfect décor for the home. Here are some wonderful spaces and products that feature maps:
{world map wallpaper in bedroom designed by Steven Gambrel via Decorpad}
{collection of framed maps in a bedroom by Ralph Lauren}
{world needlepoint pillow by Jonathan Adler}
{brown & green playroom with North American map. Designed by Westbrook Interiors Decorpad}
{recycled maps as wrapping paper – again by Martha Stewart}
I LOVE the idea of using maps to decorate... I'm still trying to find the perfect map and place to incorporate it into our home! Thanks for the great inspiration Cristin! :)
ReplyDeleteThis is such a great idea. To make your space feel more personal, its so fun use a map of a place that is special to you, honeymoon, vacation destination, etc. Maps are also great in children's rooms to help them learn their geography! :)

Decorating with maps is so fun! I also love the way Janell at Isabella and Max incorporated them into Max's room!
ReplyDeleteWe just did the continents on my nephew's nursery walls (And ceiling!) I did a ton of research before we decided how to use maps--as wallpaper, etc.--but you found some great images I did not stumble upon! I especially love the hallway with vintage map "wallpaper" on the ceiling.

ReplyDeleteI love maps. The Miami International Map Fair at HistoryMiami is the largest map fair in the world....so once a year I get to buy a little something. I love the kitch maps and souvenir maps. Love this!
ReplyDeleteGreat post! Thanks for including Nursery Notations. I really love using vintage school maps above cribs in nurseries because they don't need a frame and can just be nailed into the wall (for those of us with earthquake concerns). Also Ralph Lauren for Kravet makes a wonderful wallpaper which has vintage nautical map hues.
ReplyDeleteGreat examples...had to file a few of those :)
ReplyDeleteThese map photos are so fresh, and all unique. I just cleaned out some maps from trips in the car and hope to put them to good use!
ReplyDeleteI have always loved maps, and they are a great idea in children's rooms, attractive and educational. I also love the idea of recycling old maps for lining drawers and wrapping paper.
ReplyDeleteGreat story Cristin.
Happy Easter,
Claudia
