As some of you may know, I recently participated in Joyus’ Viewers’ Choice Challenge. The challenge was to create a living room in under five hours using furniture and accessories selected by Joyus and H.D. Buttercup {none of which was disclosed to the participants until we arrived on set}. It was a wonderful, exhilarating and a bit nerve-racking experience! By the end, I was sweating bullets! I was so relieved that it didn’t show up in the video footage {smile}.
Joyus recently provided me with some still images of the space and I thought they would be fun to share with you. I certainly appreciate video, but photographs can provide you with an emotion that video can not.
One question viewers asked what why I didn’t hang the mirrors or artwork. The answer is, it was simply too heavy and I was asked not to hang them, but I really don’t mind that they are leaning up against the wall.
Living rooms should be designed for gatherings with family and friends. I therefore wanted to create a room that served multiple functions and could accommodate extra guests if needed. I arranged the sofa and pair of X benches in an L-shaped furniture arrangement which allows people to converse easily because the angel of conversation is comfortable. The X benches added a touch of glam and also coordinated beautifully with the gray accent wall and patterned upholstered.
This is a fun angle of the the side table vignette. I think fresh flowers add so much life, color and beauty to a room. I loved how this turned out.
Here’s a closer look at one of the beautiful round end tables and pearl lamp. I adored those little tangerine Hermès boxes on the stack of books, but this is where a little editing on my part would have helped the overall look. Hind sight is 20 / 20!
The contest runs until April 16th, so if you haven’t voted or want to vote again {limitless!}, there is still time!Just go here.
All the thoughtful and sweet comments haven’t gone unnoticed. Each has warmed my heart.
Thank you so much!
