Changes... Can we still be friends?

I was bummed to find out that Google will be shutting down Google Friend Connect. Here are more details on other Google products on the chopping block. This means that after March 1, 2012, you will no longer be able to follow Simplified Bee or receive updates this way.

Sadly, I will be removing the Google Friend’s Connect widget from my blog next week. I’d love however if you’d continue to follow along and have several ways to do so. My blog posts are distributed on Facebook, Twitter, Bloglovin, Feedburner and via email:

If I find another “friend” type of vehicle that makes it easy for you to follow blogs, I will certainly be adding it!

Thanks for your patience and support!

  1. It looks like they are only getting rid of friend connect for non-blogger sites. Not sure if you are using blogger or wordpress... but as long as you have blogger, you should be okay! :) I'll be following along regardless!

  2. I might be wrong, but I also thought it wouldn't affect Blogger blogs. I hope not!

Thanks for your sweet words on my post today, btw :)

  3. Emily and Kerry... it seems you are right. Perhaps I will keep the widget and see how it goes after 3/1.

  5. yes, I think everyone is right--if you have a google blog you should be fine --this is what it seems to state here:Google Friend Connect—Friend Connect allows webmasters to add social features to their sites by embedding a few snippets of code. We’re retiring the service for all non-Blogger sites on March 1, 2012. We encourage affected sites to create a Google+ page and place a Google+ badge on their site so they can bring their community of followers to Google+ and use new features like Circles and Hangouts to keep in touch.
